Terrazzo is perhaps the oldest environment friendly flooring product which is predicted to have been discovered in Venice, Italy in the 16th century. While the Italian master builders were looking for a way to utilize the spilled marble and granite stones, the best way they found was mixing this spilled marble and granite with cement and thus got a decorative surface, and this method was used for centuries.
At the beginning of the 20th century, especially with the discovery of the electrical appliances, Terrazzo was easily applied and got the biggest support during the Second War thanks to technical and scientific developments. Epoxied resins which had high connectivity and chemical resistance started to be used in Terrazzo applications.
Compared with the past, Terrazzo, today , can reflect the designs of the architects with more vivid colors; and it has got an operational advantage with its durability and low maintenance.
